Does your hair look oily, dirty and sticks to your head even though you just washed it yesterday? It can be embarrassing as others probably think that you have not bathed for a week or you just could not be bothered washing your hair. Well, the problem is actually down to the sebaceous glands producing too much oil. These glands lie just benefit the surface of your skin and they secret sebum which is a mixture of fatty acids that actually help to protect your scalp. You probably have an over active amount of glands that secret this stuff out like there's no tomorrow. It can be down to a number things, some of which is out of your control and others you can take action.
One of the reasons is down to genetics, which there is not much you can do about that unfortunately. But, there are things that you can do to help control the problem, so read on. Other factors could be down to stress, or a bad diet.
Choose a shampoo that is high in lauryl sulphate and low in any conditioners such as lenolin. This will help to remove the oil within the hair and the scalp. Even if you do not have dandruff, you can also try an anti-dandruff shampoo that contains coal tar. These types of shampoos tend to dry out even the most oilieset hair. It may be a bit obvious, but you do need to shampoo your hair every day. In hotter weather, especially if it is humid, you may need to wash your hair twice. Take your time when it comes to shampooing, make sure you leave it on your hair for several minutes. This will give it time to remove the oil properly. Make sure you thoroughly rinse out the shampoo and then repeat the process again a second time. Remember to not use an conditioner afterwards as this will just put back the oil you have just washed away.
Instead of rinsing in water, try use a strong rosemary tea. This herb contains oils that help to control your scalp from over producing oil. To make the rinse solution, pour a cup of boiling water over 2 tablespoons of treated rosemary. After about 30 minutes, strain the water into a container and allow to cool down. After your final hair rinse, splash your hair with this water. You do not have to rinse it off afterwards, unless you do not like the fragrance of the herb.
